Celeb fitness coach Bill Phillips, who has trained stars across the sports and entertainment industry, has made the news over the past few months as he shared his near-death covid story having contracted the virus twice.

Who is Bill Phillips?


Bill Phillips is a fitness coach and writer familiar to some for his health and exercise book Body-for-LIFE which was released in 1999 which became a New York Times bestseller.


As well as his other books Eating for Life and Transformation, Phillips has also written and was the executive editor of more than 100 issues of Muscle Media Magazine.


He is also known for his career as a life coach and has trained some well-known movie stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Demi Moore, Edward Norton and Jerry Seinfeld.

Bill Phillips survived covid twice


Fitness writer and celeb coach Bill Phillips first contracted covid-19 in January 2020. Following his recovery, he chose not to get vaccinated as he thought he was immune after a test found he had antibodies against covid.


Phillips went on to contract the virus a second time in June of this year, which led him to be hospitalised for two months, where he was intubated for 47 days. Talking of his time in hospital in a post on Facebook in September, Phillips admitted he lost around 5 stone (70lb) in weight.


He has since admitted he “made a mistake” in not getting vaccinated. Talking to news station 9News, he explained: “I made a mistake I thought that since I covid in January of 2020 that I was immune to it.”

Is he vaccinated now?


In August, it was reported Phillips had plans to get vaccinated for covid-19 on his upcoming birthday on 23 September.


Two days before, his wife Maria confirmed he would be getting his vaccine on his birthday as she shared her and Bill’s antibody level test results on Facebook.


Maria is already vaccinated and chose to have her dose during her husband’s time in intensive care at the hospital.
